PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Indianapolis Education Association President’s Message

10/31/2019

The 2019– 2020 school year was a great beginning for the Indianapolis Education Association.  The ISTA/IEA membership organizing team enrolled thirty (30) new members during new teacher orientation.   Here in the Indianapolis Public Schools, IEA has much to be proud of – a very diverse district, highly qualified teachers and programs to meet the needs of the increasing student population. IPS has caring, committed public school employees who do their best every day to advocate in the best interest of their students, their colleagues and their profession.

In retrospect, I hope that the short summer break was enjoyable and truly relaxing for each of you.  As educators, we have opportunities to make new beginnings and fresh starts. Every school day is a chance to make the adjustments we feel are necessary to have a great day. The beginning of every week and month is another opportunity for IEA to look at our progress with fresh eyes.

As we move toward a well - deserved fall break, thank you for all that you do as an educator. Thank you for your tireless work in public education and being an IEA member.  IEA continues with its laser focus on REDFORED as witnessed by multiple posts on social media.  May you continue to have a very happy, safe and successful school year.

As the IEA bargaining team meets with IPS administrative team to negotiate the collective bargaining agreement for the 2019 – 2020 school year, please continue to show your support by wearing your REDFORED. Thanks.

Sincerely,

Ronald S. Swann
